The Absolute Beauty of Dayara Bugyal Trek

After undertaking the absolutely wondrous Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek, me and my group of three friends decided to undertake the beautiful Dayara Bugyal Trek in December. The Dayara Bugyal Trek package was overall one of the best treks I’ve ever undertaken. The whole trekking journey was indeed wholesome, calming and honestly quite relaxing!

Day 1 : Reached Raithal From Dehradun

Raithal a secluded yet serene village, was the starting point for our trek. It is around nine hours’ drive from Dehradun. During our drive, we witnessed the blissful beauty of forests, the beautiful Bhagirathi brook, and several soothing sceneries. Further, we also got a glimpse of the beautiful Mt. Shrikhand, and the Gangotri Peaks.

Day 2 : From Raithal To Gui

Next day, our journey started from the base camp at Raithal, where we met our team and the Trekmunk professional guide and leader. From there, we moved forward through the lushy alpine forests, towards the campsite at Gui, an old, ancient and an undiscovered village. After a little break at basecamp, we started our climb upwards, leaving behind Raithal and eventually reaching the pasturelands of that area. The trek of Dayara Bugyal started through the line of trees and shrubs, of the maple, oak, and pine forests along with wildflowers. Once wereacheda water point, we freshened up a bit, and continue our trail After mapping a few more steps, we reached the campsite. Here, we explored the various forests and the unique culture of villagers who lived nearby.

Day 3 : From Gui And Towards Barnala

Third day started with an easy trek through the woods. The trek route from Gui campsite to Barnala was a relaxing stroll towards our destination. Within twenty minutes we were able to see the rain shelter amidst the dense wilderness. From there, within sixty minutes of climbing, we reached Barnala. At the campsite of Barnala, we got a closer view of the streams, which enhances the visible Dayara and all other peaks. After lunch, weheaded towards the Barnala pasturelands, which was around fifteen minutes climb from the campsite. The meadows of Barnala we are just pleasing and serene as the bugyals of Dayara. Further, through the meadows, we climbed on a steep surface, which was the only tough path in our journey, to visit Nag Devta temple. During our journey to this temple, the trekking pole was a handy trek equipment. Once we reached the temple, you explored its beauty. While our way back to the campsite, we were able to see the entire belt of the mesmerizing Gangotri ranges covered with the various colours of the evening sky.

Day 4 : From Barnala to The Dayara Top and Descend to Chilapada

On the fourth day, starting early in the morning, we led uphill through the grazing lands of Barnala, entering the forest area. We enjoyed the shed of trees above us till the nexthour, after which we entered the meadows again. While climbing through those areas, you saw various Chania huts, while on our right there was the grand Mt. Bandarpunch and Mt. Kala Nag. The oak and pine trees literally cheer us up as we climbed. We were literally walking on the blanket of snow. After this strenuous climb, we finally explored the pastures of Dayara, reaching the peak of Dayara. After exploring the meadows of Dayara for some time, we headed towards one of those Chania huts that we had seen before. After getting a bit refreshed, from the Chania hut you we descended towards Chilapada.

Day 5 :From Chilapada To Raithal

Next day, we woke up quite early to reach Raithal timely. The trail from Chilapada to Raithal was quite similar to the one that we covered on day two. From Dayara we descended towards the rain shelter, from where we reach the Gui campsite, after an hour. While continuing our trail from there, we took the last glimpses of Mt. Bandarpunch, as we left it behind us. After an hour’s trek downwards, we reached the earlier seen water point, where we freshened up as we did before. Finally, from that water point, we commenced towards our final trek back to Raithal. After reaching the guest house, we took rest and planned our journey further. Our trekking period had officially come to an end.

Day 6: From Raithal Back To Dehradun

From Raithal’s guest house, we rode back to Dehradun, which was a popular tourist place. We explored the beauty of the state and left for our respective states after two days.
