A perfect blend of easy and difficult treks, the Chandrashila and the Bara Bhangal Trek are a must

Have you just started trekking, yet you are still a beginner but now, you gradually want to speed up your difficulty level? Then I have two great trek combinations for you — The Bara Bhangal Trek and the Chandrashila Trek. These are perfect for those, who are at the middle stage of trekking, not absolute beginners nor experienced professionals, but for the ones who have been trekking before and are looking to do more treks to hone their skills and gain experience in trekking by adventuring to treks regularly.

The Chandrashila trek is a perfect blend of the easy and challenging trek. Even if you are someone who hasn’t done a Himalayan trek, then the Chandrashila trek would be appropriate for you to begin.

The Chandrashila is one of those unique treks, that one can do throughout the year. Deoriatal Chandrashila trek is located in Uttarakhand, the land of gods — Devbhoomi. It will take you five days to complete this 28 km trek, which is elevated at an altitude of 131 23 ft. As I previously said, you can do this trek throughout the year, although the best time would be from October to May.

If you are a beginner at trekking, then the Deoriatal Chandrashila trek must be there on your bucket list. The mountain of Chandrashila is wrapped in snow during the months from December to March. During this period, the weather is cold and the trek becomes very difficult hence it’s better to visit the trek during the rest of the season.

Chandrashila trek is a beautiful amalgamation of picturesque landscapes, snow-white mountains, and blue skies — nature comes together to paint this beautiful panoramic view. Another major highlight of this trek is the unbelievable sights of sunrises and sunsets. The golden rays of the sun falling upon you will cleanse your inner self and purify your soul, relieving you of your stress and other worries.

The trek to Chandrashila begins from a drive to Sari from Dehradun, which will take about 8 to 10 hours. Once we reach Sari the trek begins to the Deoriatal Chandrashila, which is just 3 km from Sari. After the climb, we depart at Chopta and then to Dehradun, which will approximately take about 7 to 8 hours.

One can reach Dehradun via the nearest airport, the Dehradun airport which is connected to the major cities of India The other route is by train one can board the Nandadevi Express or the Dehradun Express. Most tourists prefer to travel via train overflights since you witness the beauty of the scenic sights of Dehradun during the journey. In addition to that, railways are comparatively cheaper than airways.

The second trek recommendation is the Bara Bhangal trek, it is indeed a challenging trek. However, if you are a regular trekker trying to scale up your difficulty level, then the Bara Bhangal trek is the one! Bara Bhangal is situated in Himachal Pradesh. It takes about 13 days to complete this 30 km trek. The height of Bara Bhangal is 15,750 ft.

The best time to go for this trek is from May to October. Anyone above the age of 12 is eligible for this trek. You can see impeccable sights all around, during the climb, you will catch sights of the Kangra ranges. During the trek, you can also take your route through the Riyal Thatch and Manali Sanctuary. In addition to that, you will also capture the mesmerising beauty of the Indrasan peaks, Hanuman Tibba, and the Deo Tibba. It will also cover the Dhauladhar ranges and the Pir Panjal ranges.

The best time to do this trek is from May to October, when the weather is warm yet chilling. After October as winter approaches, it becomes utterly difficult to trek with the harsh winter winds blowing. It is best to avoid the trek during monsoon as there is a high chance of frequent landslides.
