Himalayan Treks in the Month of June: Hampta Pass and Tarsar Marsar

There is a famous quote we trekkers follow. It says, "Everyone wants to live on the top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occur while climbing it."

Trekking is a life-changing experience that gives you many avenues to explore yourself and understand your vulnerabilities. The journey to the top is often full of challenges testing your physical endurance and emotional strength. Some treks are bound with so many adventures that they boost our adrenaline, which we all occasionally crave.

Today's blog highlights two such summer treks in India that will give you the bug to climb more mountains and reach more peaks. The best time to go on these treks is between June to September.

Hampta Pass Trek

A beautiful trek that is open for more months than many other treks in India, Hampta Pass is one of the most famous treks in Himachal Pradesh. The route is sandwiched between the Chandra valley in Lahaul and Kullu valley between Manali and Largi. The most impressive part of this trek is that the views and landscape change throughout the route.

Crossing the Hampta Pass is always a great adventure - because of its enthralling and exciting trails. The trek is challenging for beginners. It is 35 kilometers in total.

While the trek is grand in all seasons, the Hampta pass trek in June is best. The main reason is the heavy amounts of snow that will give you the feeling that you are trekking in some snow-heavy regions.

If you do the Hampta Pass trek in June, you will start seeing speckles of snow from the first day of your trek as you climb through Jwara meadows. You cross snow glaciers, live near river banks surrounded by snow mounds, and walk through heavy snowfall until you reach the trek's endpoint.

Even at a lower elevation of 14,500 feet, the Hampta pass trek is possibly better than treks like Roopkund and Rupin Pass. The narrow crossing of the pass has better snow accumulations than other open meadow treks.

Overview:

●    Difficulty level: Moderate

●    Duration: 5 Days

●    Location: Himachal Pradesh

●    Best time: July-September

●    Minimum age: 10

Tarsar Marsar Trek

Like the beautiful Hampta Pass trek, Tarsar Marsar Trek is a delight for nature enthusiasts. Located in the valleys of Kashmir, the Tarsar Marsar tour has one of the most beautiful trails to follow.

Tarsar and Marsar are two lakes separated by a mountain. At 12,500 feet and 13,000 feet, the two lakes are often called twin sisters. Marsar Lake's location is close to a national park; it has lush landscapes that can go crazy.

Tarsar Marsar is a good trek for beginners as the difficulty level is not very high, and the trail has views to encourage the trekker inside you to finish the course. You start the tour from the base camp, Aru, a portrait-like village next to the banks of the Lidder river. From Aru, you walk upstream, pass pine forests, walk-through ridges, and cross lakes to reach the finish point in Homwas. The total distance of the trek is approximately 47 kilometers.

Overview:

●    Difficulty level: Easy to Moderate

●    Duration: 7 Days

●    Location: Srinagar

●    Best time: June-September

●    Minimum age: 10

As June approaches, we are here to talk you through your decision of which treks in June to opt for. The above two trails are challenging, beautiful, and inspiring, especially for those looking to trekking as a hobby to pick up next.

These treks are beautiful, with landscapes that keep changing every year. You can visit the same trek but experience something different and new each time.
