NAG TIBBA: A RELIGIOUS TREK

India is filled with all different sorts of treks, you want something that challenges you, we have that, at the same time we also have something easy. Trekking shouldn’t always require you to push high and low, it is okay to want to chill while still being one with nature. One such trek that covers these points is ‘Nag Tibba’ or the Serpent Peak.
Uttarakhand is known for its beautiful mountains, trekkers from all around the country enjoy the various journeys this state has to offer. The state is home to many religious places such as Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Kedarnath. It is a sacred place, which attracts various people from all around the world.
Among its various treks sits one of the very few religious as well as one the shortest Himalayan trek ‘Nag Tibba.’ Nag Tibba is the highest peak in the lower Himalayas of the Garhwal Region. The first half of its name is derived from Nag Devta (Snake God) and the latter half i.e ‘Tibba’ means peak or hill. The local villagers visit the peak to offer their prayers to Nag Devta for keeping their animals safe.
Sitting at 9,855 ft, it is a short trip with spectacular views of Srikantha, Swargrohini, Kala Nag, and Gangotri. You will also be able to enjoy glimpses of Doon valley, Kedarnath peak, and Changabang. The best part of this trek is that it is accessible all year round. Although during the months of November-March the mountain is laden with snow, this will only add to the experience. It is one of the best hike for beginners, as it is a 2-day journey. Irrespective of the short time the journey will fill you with excitement and thrill. The trip is also very budget-friendly, acting as a cherry on the top. It is the perfect weekend getaway for the residents of Delhi due to its close proximity.

The trail from here is cemented, but only until you cross the rocky trail. After a little walk further, you would be able to see the village of Pantwari. This area is full of farmlands, and if you are lucky enough you could find yourself being surrounded by their greenery. A little walk further you will find yourself being mesmerised by the picturesque views of the beautiful oak rhododendrons. The base camp is situated in a beautiful location with the forest as its backdrop. The scenery is so serene that it is easy to get lost in its stunning beauty. After a nice rest, the day to reach the summit has arrived. The distance to the summit is 11 km and takes around 5 hours. During your journey, you will come across a few patches of open land.
