Ali Bedni Bugyal - An Unbeatable, Moderate-Grade Trekking Expedition In India

From the many treks hosted by the State of Uttarakhand, the Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek remains one of its kind because of the vast, sprawling meadows encapsulated by it. The trek is ideal to relish the beauty of trekking in India. It offers electric experiences each day while elevating you to a maximum altitude of 11,350 ft by covering a distance of 31 km over a span of six days. With undulating meadows and enthralling trails that dive into the remote folds of the state of Uttarakhand, the Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek has secured a special place in my heart and remains amongst my favorites.

From the astounding valleys encountered in the beginning to the astounding, giant peaks that you discover from the top of the meadow, every day of the Ali Bedni Bugyal unfolds into exciting experiences of a lifetime.

The Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek meanders over the rising and dipping folds of the bugyals en route and the joy of walking along those folds cannot be put into words. However, the bugyals are not the only interesting and fascinating parts of the Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek. mentioned below are some other aspects of the trek that will indefinitely make you weak in the knees -

1) The vast belts of pasture lands -
Vast stretches of pasture lands are vaguely rousing especially when they are lush green. In simpler words, the Ali Bedni Bugyal remains a gateway to the heavenly pasture lands in the state of Uttarakhand. Right from the first day, you are blown over by the vibrant and unending stretches of pasture lands. Many a time, you also encounter herds of sheep or horses peacefully grazing over these lands and the sight remains ever so fascinating, refreshing as well as enlivening. These same pasture lands remain completely submerged in foot-deep carpets of snow during winters making the sight as other-worldly as possible.

2) Dense thickets of Oak and Rhododendrons -
Forests of Oak and Rhododendrons are encountered on almost every trek in Uttarakhand but what makes the forests of Oak and Rhododendrons of the Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek special are the tall and heavily branched trees. These heavily branched, towering trees elevate the experience of traversing the forest to another level altogether — the shady forests appear more intriguing, thrilling, and daunting as opposite to other forests and are ideal for spooky games. In winters especially, these forests remain completely smeared by milky-white, powdery snow and appear even more transfixing.

3) The breathtaking sunsets and sunrises —
As an occasional trekker, I have had the pleasure of witnessing some of the most heavenly, unbelievably beautiful, and breathtaking sunrises as well as sunsets of all time. However, the sunrises and sunsets at the Ali Bedni Bugyal continue to have a special corner in my heart to this day. There is something exceptionally magical, equally maddening about the sunrises and sunsets on this trek and there is no way you can afford to miss out on it.

4) The exotic experience of trekking from Khobal Tal to Gehroli Patal via Bedni Bugyal —
On the fourth day of the Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek, as you walk away from the pristine Khobal Tal that remains encapsulated by the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, towards Gehroli Patal distanced 7 km away, you get to traverse the Bedni Bugyal en route. The trek is easy, relaxing, and peace-bringing. You get to enjoy the calm wilderness and admire the entrancing beauty of the meandering Bedni Bugyal with mighty, robust mountains peaks in the backdrop. The descent from Bedni Bugyal to Gehroli Patal is also noteworthy with engrossing sceneries, a hospitable atmosphere, and a pleasant ambiance encompassed in the region.

5) The jaw-dropping views from the top of the Bugyals —
As you reach the top of the Ali and Bedni Bugyals on the third and fourth day, you get to access some of the most bewildering and transfixing views of fierce, majestic mountain peaks standing tall with all their might in the backdrop. You will find vast meandering meadows rolled out before you and the marvelous Mt. Nanda Ghunti and Mt. Trishul towering high in the backdrop giving you excellent, panoramic, and soul-filling views of the engrossing region.
