Two Summer Treks To Do For An Enlivening Experience - Nag Tibba Trek And Bali Pass Trek
Trekking in the summer season sure sounds like a plan. Everything about this season reminds me of liveliness. With the vibrant landscapes, blooming flora, brightly shining sun, and pleasantly gurgling rivers, the summer season indeed is refreshing as well as enlivening.
Having accomplished a variety of easy, moderate, and difficult-grade treks across various parts of the country, I have had the privilege to witness admirably beautiful landscapes, exotic mountain views, and thrilling experiences. When I think of the treks to do in the summer season, my head gets flooded with several treks around the country. But the two treks that have stayed with me ever since I completed them are the Nag Tibba and Bali Pass Treks. And here is why -
NAG TIBBA TREK -
Encapsulated in the Tehri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, the Nag Tibba is an admirable robust peak that towers as high as 9,910 ft in the sky. Covering just 16 km, the Nag Tibba trek is a child and family-friendly trek that is completed in merely 2 days. Mentioned below are three unique aspects of this trek that make it stand apart from most other similar treks -
1) The easily accessible enthralling panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas from the summit -
Exquisite views of fascinating mountain peaks can be accessed on almost any average trek but the fact that equally mesmerizing views of notable mountain peaks such as the Bandarpoonch, Srikantha, Swargarohini, Kala Nag, Kedarnath, and the Gangotri can be accessed in a mere span of two days with minimum efforts is what remains special about the Nag Tibba Trek. The easy trails, comfortable atmosphere, and vibrant landscapes in summer make it extremely difficult at least for the nearby residents to resist this trek. That is why the Nag Tibba Trek is one of the most admired, weekend getaway treks for most north Indians. It unfolds into a gallery of exotic mountain peaks, leaving you gasping at the wonders of nature.
2) The diversity of landscapes en route -
Even though the Nag Tibba trek lasts only for two days, the variety of landscapes encountered en route is ridiculously surprising. From thickly forested regions and large patches of clearings to bewildering walks on the ridge, the Nag Tibba trek allows you to witness magnificent landscapes as witnessed on high mountain pass treks, in just two days with negligible amounts of effort.
3) The overwhelmingly surreal sunset at the campsite -
Sunsets from mountain tops make me drool like nothing else in the world ever can. There is something extremely magical and other-worldly about them. If you are someone who finds sunsets even remotely fascinating, you should definitely hop onto the Nag Tibba trek at least once in your lifetime, especially for the exotic sunset views. With no barriers in the forefront, the sight simply remains clear, wide, and overwhelmingly awe-inspiring.
BALI PASS TREK -
Bali Pass, a vehemently fierce and mighty mountain peak, rising up to a whopping altitude of 16,200 ft, remains snuggled in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Covering a crazy distance of 60 km, the Bali Pass trek takes you into some of the extremely engrossing and bewitching nooks of Uttarakhand, allowing you to explore and relish the unfiltered, raw beauty of the state.
The trails to the top, however, are not very hospitable, in fact, they tend to get really steep at some points and require trekkers to have basic mountaineering knowledge. That is why the Bali Pass trek is known for its difficulty and tough terrains. It is a thoroughly adventurous and challenging trek, only suitable for professional trekkers.
Mentioned below are four of my favorite aspects of the Bali Pass trek -
1) The hike through dense oak forests that connect the exotic Ghangad and Osla villages —
On the second day of the Bali Pass trek, as you walk away from Sankri towards the campsite of Seema, you enter the ancient and ever-engrossing Ghangad village. The rich cultural history of the village with the ancient architecture leaves you spellbound for a brief moment with their bewitching artistry. Further, as you traverse thick oak forests, you reach the Osla village with equally admirable and fascinating aspects. The hike from Ghangad to Osla offers an overwhelmingly heart-warming experience like none other.
2) The visit to the enchanting Ruinsara Tal -
The visit to Ruinsara Tal is scheduled on the fourth day of the Bali Pass Trek. You begin to walk away from the splendid campsite of Rainbasera, early in the morning, towards the Ruinsara Tal that remains perched at 11,800 ft. After approximately 7 km of steady trekking, the enchanting Ruinsara Tal gracefully unfolds before you, elegantly reflecting its surroundings. Encapsulated by the majestic Swargarohini, the Ruinsara Tal calmly lies amidst undulating meadows. After a tiring walk uphill, this glacial lake comes as a breath of fresh air and immediately lifts up your spirits.
3) The walk over the alpine Himalayan meadows en route -
Walking over sprawling, undulating meadows is always fun, especially in summers when everything around appears more vibrant, colorful, and lively than ever. Throughout the Bali Pass trek, you get to hike over grand stretches of Himalayan alpine meadows a couple of times, and the experience is stirring, engrossing and all things beautiful.
4) The thrilling and equally daunting climb to the Bali Pass -
For the climax, the ridiculously challenging, thrilling, and adventurous climb from Bali Col camp to Bali Pass, steals the show. This climb begins on the seventh day along steep, and rocky trails filled with boulders. As you attempt this climb, you get to access drool-worthy, panoramic views of Mt. Swargarohini and Mt. Bandarpoonch along with the exotic Garhwal Himalayas. The eagle’s eye view of the entire mountainscape from the Bali Pass is to die for.
